The Pennsylvania Brain Injury Coalition is a collaborative effort among individuals with brain injury, the Brain Injury Association of PA, the Acquired Brain Injury Network of PA, the Disability Rights Network and the Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Facilities. The Coalition continues to make progress towards their goal of establishing a caucus in both the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the Pennsylvania Senate. We now have two members of the House and two from the Senate who have agreed to co-chair their respective caucuses. Meetings have been held, with members of the House Caucus and one of the co-chairs of the Senate Caucus.

Concussion Legislation
At a Press Conference held Wednesday January 26 in Harrisburg Representative Tim Briggs and Senator Pat Browne announced that they would be submitting to their respective chamber a bill known as the Safety in Youth Sports Act. The House Bill (HB 200) was submitted on January 27 and has now been referred to the Education Committee.
The Senate bill (SB 200) was introduced to the Senate. After approval by the Education committee, it has now had its second consideration on the Senate floor and has been referred to the Appropriations Committee.
To encourage quick consideration of these bills people should contact their Representative and Senator and request that they support the bill and also that they petition to have the bill placed on the agenda of the appropriate committee for immediate action.
