Meghan Walsh-Farrell is New Director of Programs

The Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania (BIAPA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Meghan Walsh-Farrell as Director of Programs. She succeeds Monica Vaccaro, who served in that position for many years.
“I want to extend heartfelt gratitude to Monica Vaccaro for her many years of excellent service," Walsh-Farrell says. “I've worked closely with Monica for the past five years and have seen her deep commitment to survivors, families, and professionals across Pennsylvania. The programs we have today owe so much to her work, and I'm very grateful for all I've learned alongside her.”
Walsh-Farrell holds a master’s degree in counseling from Rider University. She has worked as a high school guidance counselor and director of the guidance department for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She began volunteering with BIAPA through the Ambassador Program in 2020 and then became Program Coordinator working directly with Monica Vaccaro.
“This work is personal to me,” she says. “I'm a caregiver to my son, Ronan, who sustained a severe traumatic brain injury 10 years ago. I know firsthand what it's like to search for answers, navigate services, and find your way through a new normal."
In 2018, she and her husband, Keith, founded the Project GreenHeart Foundation to support families affected by pediatric brain injury. They have provided information and support bags to pediatric brain injury patients, developed Brain Buddies, a virtual connection program for adolescents with brain injuries during COVID, and hosted adaptive events. She lives in Bucks County with her family: Keith, Ronan, Meadhbh, Declan.
Reflecting on her appointment, she says, “I recognize the responsibility BIAPA has to the brain injury community, and I take it very seriously. People turn to us during some of the hardest moments of their lives, and they deserve accurate information, meaningful support, and access to resources.”
Addressing Pennsylvania’s brain injury community, she says, “In the months ahead, I'll focus on strengthening the programs you rely on and listening to what matters most to you. I welcome your thoughts, questions, and ideas, and I hope you'll reach out and share them with me. I'm grateful to be part of this community and look forward to the work ahead.”
